Old Kraftsman (Kay) Electric Guitar Early 1960s
- Category: Guitars / Electric Guitars
Here is a cool “Old Kraftsman” guitar, manufactured by the Kay company in the early 1960s. It has a very cool offset headstock with Old Kraftsman logo and a nice sunburst finish. Vintage-looking volume and tone dials for each pickup. It is a short scale and light guitar. The “pancake” pickups sound good in that rough, garage-band, early sixties style. The action is fine and the frets are still alive with only a slight buzz here and there. The pickguard is chipped on the edges around some of the screws (you can see in the photos) but it is still functional and staying in place. There is one large ding in the finish above the neck pickup (see photos). The binding on the lower part of the neck is off and is missing. Otherwise, there are only normal small nicks and finish wear around the edges. The tremolo arm is missing but a replacement part will work.
Overall it is in pretty decent shape for being 50 years old. Please ask any questions before you buy.
The video below is not the same guitar but the sound is very similar, so you can get an idea.
