Late 60s Baldwin 712 12-string semi-acoustic
- Category: Guitars / Electric Guitars
Late 1960s Baldwin 712 12-string semi-acoustic guitar in original bright red. This type of guitar was made in bass, six-string and 12-string versions in Italy between 1967 and 1970, came in two finishes, bright red or sunburst, and were mid-priced. This is a later model of the 12-string version, probably 1969 or 1970. It is in good condition and in fine working order. There is some light buckle rash on the back and a few very minor dings here and there but otherwise it’s all great and original, with one exception.
When I acquired this it was set-up as a six string and affixed with a sort-of-Bigsby-type tremolo unit. It was returned its original 12-string status by Leon at http://www.grizzlyguitars.co.uk in London who made and fitted a new 12-string nut, removed the tremolo unit, plugged and dyed the holes where said unit was affixed (see photos), put the original 12-string tail-piece and bridge back on, and gave the whole instrument a fine set-up. It’s all good now, plays well and the pick-ups send out a great sound. Shipping will be charged at actual cost, as agreed with buyer.
